Stool Scoots
Professional Rationale
This is a great hamstring and glut strengthening exercise for anyone with hamstring or glut weakness, especially post-operative patients, and post total knee arthroplasty.
Client Rationale
This is an exercise that helps to strengthen your hamstrings (the muscles that run along the back of your thigh) and your gluts (muscles in your buttocks). It is a functionally based exercise as your foot is on the ground.
Instructions
- Sit on a rolling chair or stool.
- Pull yourself forward with your affected leg, using the hamstring.
- Use both legs only if needed.
- If on a chair, sit forward on the chair.
- Do not lean forward.
