Standing Hamstring Curl
Professional Rationale
This is a basic open chained exercise to help strengthen the hamstrings and knee flexion. A weight can be added to increase the resistance. This is a great exercise for post-operative ACL reconstructions particularly those with a hamstring graft, and also for the geriatric population.
Client Rationale
This is a strengthening exercise for your hamstring muscles. Hamstrings run along the back of your thigh and bend the knee and extend the hip.
Instructions
- Hold onto the back of a chair or countertop.
- Bend knee up to 90 degrees.
- Return slowly.
- Do not lean forward.
- Do not lean backwards.
- Do not bend knee more than 90 degrees.
