Professional Rationale
Isometrics are useful for patients need strengthening but have painful or weak active range of motion. It is an excellent exercise to activate inhibited or recently repaired muscles.
Client Rationale
This exercise is an isometric exercise which means you are using (activating) the muscle without moving the limb. If you have trouble moving your arm against gravity or the muscle has been repaired you may start your strengthening program with isometrics.
Instructions
- Press hand backward into wall gently.
- Press with about half force.
- Do not bend your elbow.
- Do not use full force.
