Seated Thoracic Rotation



Professional Rationale
A good home exercise when used in conjunction with muscle energy techniques, and/or mobilization for hypomobility or positional dysfunction.

Client Rationale
This is a general ROM exercise for the thoracic spine. This helps to promote movement of each segment of the thoracic spine.



Instructions
  • Sit in a chair with good posture and your arms crossed over your chest.
  • Keeping good posture, twist to one direction, keeping the pelvis stable.
  • Return and repeat to the opposite side.
  • Do not let your body weight shift onto one side of the pelvis, and do not let the shoulders lean to the side.
  • Do not twist to the point of pain.
  • Do not allow the upper back and chest to drop into a rounded position or lift into an arched position.
