A basic seated hip flexor strengthening exercise that is most useful with the geriatric population.

Client Rationale
This is a basic strengthening exercise while seated. It helps to strengthen your hip flexors which are on the front part of your hip and thigh and help to bring your thigh up towards your trunk. You need your hip flexors while walking and when you need to lift your foot off of the ground such as when getting into a vehicle.



Instructions
  • Sitting on a chair.
  • Lift one thigh up off the seat keeping the knee bent.
  • Return to starting position.
  • Repeat to opposite side.
  • Do not lean forward at the waist.
