A common extension exercise based in the MacKenzie philosophy that works at reducing a disc lesion and centralising the pain.

Client Rationale
This is an exercise that uses extension of the lumbar spine (low back) to help to decrease pain from a pinched nerve. The purpose to reduce a potential disc bulge or herniation resulting in less leg pain (radicular pain) and get the pain to be localized in your back, where it is much easier to treat.



Instructions
  • Place your hands on the floor and lift your trunk up as high as possible.
  • Let your low back 'sag' and keep your legs relaxed.
  • Do not let your hips/pelvis come off of the surface.
