A basic active range of motion exercise to regain extension in the knee. It is helpful to combine this exercise with a weight laying on top on the calf or off the ankle, as the patient tolerates.

Client Rationale
This exercise is to help you gain straightening (extension) range of motion in your knee. The goal of the exercise is have the weight of gravity help you increase the amount of extension. This exercise is very useful after you have had surgery on your knee.



Instructions
  • Put towel roll under you thigh, close to your knee.
  • Relax your leg and let gravity help you improve the straightening.
  • Do not cause any significant pain.
  • Do not bounce into the stretch.
