Client Rationale
This is a Pilates based exercise that uses breathing and movement to help strengthen your core and promote normal segmental motion in the thoracic spine.
Instructions
- Lie on your side on the floor, with hips and knees bent.
- Have your arms straight out in front of you at shoulder height with your palms together.
- Inhale and reach to the top of the ceiling.
- Exhale and continue to reach your arm out to the side, allowing trunk, but not hips, to rotate, opening up the chest wall.
- Inhale and stay.
- As you exhale, initiate your abs and rotate your trunk back to the start position as if your pivot point is your belly button.
- Do not rotate your hips.
- Do not move quickly or 'passively'.
