Lumbar Rotation
Professional Rationale
This is a great exercise for an early acute lumbar sprain, or as a staple for patients with chronic degenerative changes.
Client Rationale
This is an exercise that helps to settle down muscle guarding and to help lubricate the joint surfaces of the lower spine. It is completed in a position where the spine is unloaded. It is best done in the morning to reduce stiffness in the lower back.
Instructions
- Lie on the floor or a bed with your knees bent.
- Keeping your knees together, rotate your hips to one side then the other.
- Do not cause pain.
