Hip Flexor Stretch - Thomas Stretch
Professional Rationale
A hip flexor stretch using the Thomas Test position. Best for the younger or more athletic population due to the position.
Client Rationale
This is a hip flexor stretch. The hip flexors are a group of muscles that help bend your hip up towards your stomach. When they are tight they create muscles imbalances throughout the legs, pelvis, and low back, increasing the load and stress on the joints.
Instructions
- Lie on the edge of a table/bed.
- Hug one knee up to your chest.
- Let the opposite leg hand down and bend at the knee.
- Feel a stretch along the front of your hip.
- Do not bounce.
- Do not allow your low back to extend off the table/bed.
