Hip Flexion Isometric
Professional Rationale
A basic isometric for the hip flexors. A great exercise for very early post hip arthroplasty rehabilitation or any traumatic lower extremity injury or surgery.
Client Rationale
This is an isometric exercise for your hip flexors. An isometric contraction is when you activate a muscle without moving the joint it controls. Your hip flexors are a group of muscles that help to bring your leg up towards your trunk and functionally they help to stabilize the legs and pelvis.
Instructions
- Lie on the floor or bed with knees bent up.
- Flex one hip up towards you.
- Place your hand on the front of the thigh and as you try to pull the thigh further up, resist with your hand.
- Do not hold your breath.
