Hip External Rotation Stretch
Professional Rationale
Good internal rotation stretch as well as a good capsular stretch for the hip joint. Be careful with those patients who present with any intraarticular presentations as this is the closed packed position for the hip and can easily irritate the intraarticular structures.
Client Rationale
This is an buttock and internal rotator stretch. The internal rotators are a group of muscles that make up part of your buttock. They help to rotate your leg inwards and stabilize your leg and pelvis functionally. This is also a stretch for your hip joint.
Instructions
- Sitting on a chair with your foot on the opposite knee.
- Gently push your knee towards the floor.
- Do not bounce.
- Do not stretch to the point of pain.
