Hamstring Stretch on Wall

Professional Rationale
A hamstring stretch that has the patient in a position where it is difficult to compensate on the stretch, localizing the hamstring nicely.

Client Rationale
This is an exercise to stretch your hamstrings, or the muscle that runs along the back of your thigh. Hamstring length is extremely important for proper lower extremity mechanics as well as low back health. The hamstrings originate at your pelvis where you sit. When the hamstrings are inflexible they pull the pelvis into a slouched position, dramatically increasing the pressure and load on the discs and joints of the lower back.

Instructions
  • Rest heel on wall so that a gentle stretch is felt in the hamstring.
  • Do not experience sharp pain.
