This is a basic isometric exercise that helps to engage the hamstrings at a baseline level. It is particularly useful in the early post-operative phases to wake up the hamstring.

This exercise is to help to strengthen the hamstring muscle - a group of muscles that help to control your knee joint in standing, to stop you from buckling. This is an isometric exercise which means your fire the muscle without moving the knee.



Instructions
  • Bend knee slightly.
  • Keep your heel down.
  • Dig heel into the surface as if you were trying to bend your knee.
  • Do not let your buttock come off the floor/table/bed.
  • Do not hold your breath.
