Exercise Band Wrist Extension

Professional Rationale
A good preventative exercise for overuse injuries. Once the tendinosis process occurs it is best to strengthen purely eccentrically. Patients should not be doing this exercise if it is painful as this is often the motion that causes repetitive stress in the first place.

Client Rationale
This is an exercise used to help strengthen your wrist extensors with an exercise band. Wrist extensors are often inflamed with repetitive use, leading to overuse syndromes such as tennis elbow (or lateral epicondylitis) and golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis).

Instructions
  • Sit with forearm supported on a table or on your lap.
  • Fix exercise band underneath your foot and hold the opposite end with your hand.
  • With palm facing down, bring the back of your hand up towards you, extending at the wrist.
  • Return slowly.
  • Do not move balistically or rapidly.
