This is an exercise band strengthening exercise that helps to engage the adductors of the hip. It is a great exercise for any patient with adductor weakness including post knee and hip arthroplasty, as well as strengthening the core.
Client Rationale
This exercise is to help to strengthen the hip adductor muscles using an exercise band. These muscles abduct your hip(bring your leg towards midline), and functionally stabilize your pelvis and hips. Using the exercise band also helps to strengthen your core muscles.
Instructions
- Fix the exercise band to the side and loop opposite around your ankle.
- Hold onto a chair for balance.
- Bring leg towards midline, in front of your opposite leg.
- Keep abs tight.
- Return slowly.
- Do not bend your knee.
- Do not bend sideways at the waist.
- Do not sway.
