Common Flexor Tendon Stretch
Professional Rationale
The most basic common flexor stretch.
Client Rationale
This is a common stretch used to stretch the flexor mass, and more specifically the common flexor tendon at the medial epicondyle of the elbow. Golfer's elbow, or medial epicondylitis is a common overuse problem on the inside of the elbow. All of the flexors of the wrist and the fingers live on the underside of the forearm, they all join to form one tendon, called the common flexor tendon. With chronic overuse with gripping, keying, or lifting, the tendon can start to degenerate, creating pain with any gripping activity. This stretch helps to break up scar tissue throughout this tendon and improving blood flow.
Instructions
- Raise arm straight out in front of you.
- Push back on your hand creating a stretch on the underside of the forearm.
- Do not bend at the elbow.
