AROM Cervical Extension
General ROM exercise that is particularly useful for most patients, including acute neck pain. Ensure a fracture or upper cervical instability isn't present prior to prescribing exercises for the neck, especially with post-MVA or post-traumatic injury.
This is an active range of motion exercise for your neck, specifically neck extension. This is an exercise that helps to introduce gentle motion so that your neck does not stiffen up and it helps to clear inflammation.
- Standing or sitting with shoulders back and chest up, tip your head back.
- Return slowly.
- Work only in pain free range of motion.
- Do not apply overpressure.
- Do not experience any pain.
