This is a mid-level stabilization exercise for those with chronic degenerative changes or a chronic instability.

Client Rationale
This is a cervical stabilization exercise that helps to strengthen the front muscles of the neck while the head is moving - ie. it strengthens the dynamic stabilizers.



Instructions
  • Return to start position.
  • Lie on your back with your head unsupported.
  • Lower your head back over the edge of the bed.
  • Tuck you chin in and lift your head up.
  • Make sure you keep your chin tucked while you raise your head.
  • Do not allow the shoulders and upper back to move.
  • Do not clench the teeth or tighten the jaw. Only move as far as it feels easy to control and then return to the start position.
